Tempat Jatuh Lagi Dikenang...

I have to take time off today (which later lead to 1/2 day leave) - went to my old office to return all of the Company's properties (laptop, access card etc) as I am no longer its staff from 3 July onward... $-)

Its good to meet some of my ex-colleague - my boss, superiors and subordinates. Funny, I think that we are more close and cordial now then when I was still part of them - its always like that I guess?

Part of me feel relief that finaly all is over and its time for me to move on, but part of me feel kinda sad as I have to leave the place and people that I've been getting used to for the past 3 years or so.... $-)

p/s I don't have a laptop anymore, guess I'll be on sabatical frm Fotopages but it wont't be long until I get my own laptop maybe next month (have to wait for the PC Fair ;-) ). I'll figure out later how to update this blog - with or without pics.

E-mail from London

Receveid this e-mail from my fren Justin who stays in London:

Hey...

Long time no write. Sorry I've been slack too. Business has been very busy so I've hardly had any time to do anything, really, apart from work.

I was on my way to London on the train, but they stopped it and said that all the tube stations were closed so I had to go back again. Everyone is saying it is terrorists but London Transport is playing it down to electrical faults.

Apart from that, I'm fine. Just not much time for anything, and I'm hardly online these days except for work emails.

How are things with you?

Thanks for the thoughts though!

Jx

Glad that he is fine. :-)

London Attacked!

New's of bomb attacks on London's tube and double decker made headlines today in the dailies...:omg_no:

I was at the office yesterday afternoon when I first heard about the news over the radio, it seems like Al-Qaeda strike back..... Hopefully none of my freinds in London being victims of the attacks.

Lets hope & pray for peace on earth..

Wish my life can has external hard dics too...

I bought an external hard disc over the weekend :-)

It's a last minute decision as I wasn't able to transfer whatever files that I need (mostly photoes) from my laptop elsewhere - (online photo album like Fotopages etc ;-) ) Its a good buy I guess and I think I should buy this much earlier then the Pendrive which I bought last week... $-) So, been busy uploading those files today

How I wish that we human can have external hard disc too - so that we can store those not necessary/unwanted "files" elsewhere... ;-)

Signs of the Time

Its summer break in middle east and the Arabs are coming in drove holidaying here in the city :-)

It all started post 9/11 when some paranoid countries restricted the entry of Arab/Moslem travellers so with good marketing strategy, Malaysia was able to woo the Arabs tourist to spend ( $ ) their summer holiday here. Well I guess part of good marketing strategy is by having signboards in the city wriiten in Arabic as a gestrure of goodwill by the host country to its guests.

However, I personally think that's fine but to certain extend sometime we try to please our foreign guests so much and yet forgetting the locals who live in this beloved country. Take the road side signboard as an example, its written in English and Arabic but where is the sign in the national language here? :-O Gone are also the sign in Chinese or Japanese...

Hmm... money can buy everything in this city it seems, even the natrional language policy..... $-)

Bureucratic City

I live in a beuraucratic city, and what a beauracratic day it is... $-)

Had to listen to a customer's complain about how beauraucratic it is for a foreigner to open a personal bank account this morning. No prize for guessing who have to come to his rescue... ;-)

Later, made a trip to the authority's office to get some licensing job for another client. Its a nice new office but sadly mentality of the folks there still unchanged - had to go ups and downs few times meeting few personnel (one of them with that "show me the money" kind of gesture, sigh...) to get the relevance clearance.

Was really glad when the chore was over, only to realised later on when I was back to the office that there's typo-error in one of the document. No choice, I had to make another trip there just to get the initial and official stamp of the officer.... :annoyed:

So beuracratic indeed. I guess I'll never like dealing with the authority and counter staff, and I hate to think that those are the folks who'll get Saturday off from this weekend onwards :oh_god:

Last Working Saturday?

Run some errants today - its probbaly the last time that I can do such things as from July onwards most of the Goverment Department and Banks will no longer open for business on Saturday.

While the move is good for those affected to spend more time with their family, I personally think that its customers like me who'll suffer at the end of the day as I am one who prefer to do errants that involve the goverment departments/banks on Saturday (instead of taking time off from work on weekdays).

Afterall, most of the departments are not really efficient (once I turned up to make payment at a goverment department at 4pm on weekday and I got cynical remark from the counter staff - as if she's really busy all day...HELLO - I am making payment which will most likely be used later on to pay your salary  ) so with Saturday off, I presume there'll be more backlogs in the future... :-O

Maybe I need to do more on-line banking/payment from next month onwards...
