Happy New Year 2005

Welcome 2005
Happy New Year 2005 to all.
Its a sombre mood here in Malaysia as well as other part of the region because of the recent tsunami incident. So instead of celebrating with count down parties around town etc, special prayers were held in the mosques and other places of worships everywhere to welcome the new year.
As for me, I decided to spend this new year in hometown with my family instead of celebrating in KL. In fact, it just like another day for me.
May 2005 bring happiness and peace to the world.

Tells of Two Palaces
Was in these palaces over the weekend during my road trip from KL to Melaka.
The Istana Seri Menanti (Seri Menanti Palace) is located in Seri Menanti, the royal town of Negeri Sembilan. This Minagkabau-style palace is an architectural wonders as it was made entirely of wood without a single nail being used in its construction and decorated with beautiful intricate carvings bearing varied local motifs. It was used as the official residence of the state ruler, the Yang DiPertua Besar Negeri Sembilan, until 1931 and now housed the royal musuem of Negeri Sembilan.
As for the Astana Raja, it is a replica of the palace of Raja Melewar, the first ruler of Negeri Sembilan. It is located in Astana Raja, the initial settlement of Raja Melewar where he was installed as the ruler of Negeri Sembilan before assuming his throne at Seri Menanti.

Tsunami Disaster
Waves of Death
All local dailies today front-paged the tsunami attacked yesterday around South & South East Asia.
Its the first time that Malaysia was also affected with this kind of natural disaster eventhough it is not within the Asia Pacific's "Ring of Fire" area. It is not suprising then when everybody were caught of guard when the disaster strike.
The disaster make me think how that we are such a litle creature here in thisworld. My condolence and prayers for all

The conqueror & the warrior
Drop by at Melaka's Kg Portugis - the settlement of the descendant of the Portuguese who conquered Melaka in 1511. Before heading to KL, made a de tour to Tanjung Kling for a visit to Hang Tuah Mouselem - a legendary warrior of the Melaka Empire before it was attcaked by the Portuguese.
Only realised about the tsunami disaster once I reached KL in the late afternoon ...

Road trip on X'mas Day
Spend this X'mas day with road trip from KL to Melaka - via the old trunk road with de tour to Seri Menanti, Astana Raja and Lubok Cina. Quite an enjoyable journey though takes longer, but the sights along the route is rewarding enough for me.
p/s I'll post more pics of the places that I went to today later on.

Kota Lukut
My collection of pics for Kota Lukut (Fort Lukut) - similar to Jeff's entry for the day.
I was at the fort last October, en route from Port Dickson to Seremban. Actually its an eye opener journey to me, thought of just dropping by to look see but ended up discovering the fort ala India Jones and its museum intsead. As the fort has been left idle for quite sometime, it has some kind of eerie feeling, no doubt. I had goose bump as I was there alone all by myself...
Check out Jeff's entry as well:
