It's Labour Day today!
What a better way to celebrate this worker's appreciation day then hang around in Starbuck surfing the net from morning till late afternoon?
BTW, my days of surfing in Starbucks would be over soon - I have to surrender the laptop to the my current employer should I left the company and will be some time before I get my onw laptop (have to wait for the next PC Fair I guess...)
So while I still have the laptop, let use it to the max!

Went to Jelatek again today to meet the estate agent - I have to appoint one to rent out the unit, just to get a professional valuer view on renting out my new apartment. Looks like I can get good price if I rent out (or even sell) that apartment. Its such a relieve for me...
BTW, the developer has responded to my complain and carried out some ractification works at my unit - that's really fast

Had another meeting at Gudang Duit today. As I am almost certain would re-join ABC, this is prolly the last meeting here for me in Gudang Duit's office...
Anyway I had the opportunity today to tour the main office of Gudang Duit (I wish I had another chance to tour the entire facilities there, just like the first time when I was here)...

I went to the IRB office today after work to submit my tax return form. Its good that the office was open till 10pm nowadays in anticipation of the last minutes rush (we Malaysian really like to do things at the last minutes eh? )
Luckily everyting was smooth running for me - it was such a relief after I submitted the form.

Jelatek

I took half day leave today to go to the site of my Jelatek to collect the house keys - even the papers for Gudang Duit's Meeting on Thursday have to wait because of this matter
I'm really satisfied with this unit that I bought - glad that I made the decision to say YES three years back. Unfortunately I doubt I'll stay here for the time being - the monthly loan repayment will be a burden to me later, on top of that I already hve to shoulder the loan repayment for the yet to be tenanted Aggerik…. So in the interim I plan to rent out the whole unit...
Or shall I stay here and rent the other two rooms to others?
Met Mark at ABC afterward - discussing on the possinility of me re-joining the Company.I am almsot certain joining the Company now as most of me "demands" would be fulfilled - they even willling to compensate my existing employer's for pitching me...

Spend this Maulidur Rasul's holiday by hanging out at Starbucks during the day ... what a way to celebrate Maulidur Rasul eh? Anyway, I'm really impressed with Starbucks Wi-Fi - fast & free! Guess I'll come here often after this
Later at nite, busy with filing up the Income Tax return form. As from this year onwards the self assesment system take place, its quite "troublesome" for most of the tax payers I guess, me included For a start, I have to download the form on my own as its never been posted by IRB to me.
Luckily my fren Sba drop by tonite & more or less assists me in filling up the form (he attended briefing by IRB officers before) and this leads to the "finding" that currently I am under paid ... His advice - find another job or just accept the offer frm ABC ....

Borders opened in flagship store in KL today - it's the world's largest Borders store. Malaysia Boleh!
I went to the store after work to have a look. Personally, I prefer KLCC's Kinokuniya which stored more books on its shelves as compared to this world biggest Borders store. But its a nice place to hang around I guess, particularly as my favourite cafe - Starbucks - also has an outlet within the store itself (its Starbuck's 3rd outlet within the massive Berjaya Time Square KL).

Jalil Hamid
KUALA LUMPUR: US bookseller Borders Group Inc. opened its biggest store in the world in Malaysia on Tuesday, laying the groundwork for a foray into the Chinese-language market. Borders, the world's second-largest bookseller after US rival Barnes & Noble Inc., so far has limited its overseas expansion to English-speaking markets in Britain, Australia and Singapore.
Covering 5,574 sq metres, the Malaysian store is Borders' biggest and its first outlet to offer books in Chinese and Malay as well as in English. "This is the next logical step for us ... to develop an understanding in sourcing Chinese-language books," said Gregg Bodnar, Borders senior vice-president of international finance and operations. Rick Vanzura, Borders' newly-named head of international operations, said non-US sales, which make up 13% of total sales, had been growing by 25% in the past two years.
The Malaysian store packs more than 200,000 titles, but won't ship books deemed sensitive to Muslims, Vanzura said. "Any of the titles ... which we think would be censored in Singapore market or the Malaysian market, so we specifically block those titles from coming in to the store," he said.
The store is Borders' first franchise store and is owned by Malaysia's gaming-to-property firm Berjaya Group Bhd. The Michigan-based firm, with annual revenue of US$3.9 billion (RM14.82 billion), runs more than 460 Borders stores and about 650 Waldenbooks stores in the US and 82 stores in other countries.
Borders' Bodnar said the firm would open 10 to 12 stores mainly in Britain and Australia this year. This is on top of 15 to 20 new stores in the US as well as plans to remodel 80 to 100 existing US stores. Other English-language markets that the company is looking at in Asia could include India, Hongkong and Sri Lanka, he said.
Borders, which also sells a selection of music and movies, faces not only competition from other booksellers like Japan's Kinokuniya but also peddlers of pirated CDs and DVDs. Vanzura said the Malaysian store would stock CDs or DVDs that "are different or not as common or not subjected to piracy. With the titles that will be unique, we don't see it as an issue." -- Reuters |

Its family outing today for a fiesta in the neighbourhood.
Well there's nothing much at the fiesta - its more like a school open day. Anyway, the kids really had fun I guess, particularly for the Rumah Hantu (haunted house) experience.

I took half day today to go the developer's office - this time around for my Jelatek unit. Settled what ever payment due and made appointment to go to the site to collect the house keys later on 25/4.
Come to think of it, having 2 apartments within 2 years really scare me off - will I be able to pay for the mortgages & maintain the places etc? While my Anggerik http://click.fotopages.com/?entry=121746 is yet to be tenanted, now I have an additional (& much bigger) burden on my shoulder
Looking back, I feel like dreaming when I signed on the dotted line for the S&P of Jelatek 3 years ago. I read abt it on the business column of The Star before its launching and went to the showroom with my bro - just wanna have a look initially. Then, I realised that I really like the development and place as I used to stay in the vicinity before. The fact that it is close to the city/public transports (KLCC is just 4 LRT stations away!) and developed by a reputable developer give added attractions to it.
So I just made a reservation for a unit (its the least expensive unit available then, most of the other units - particularly those with KLCC view - have been taken out). While my bro say "GO", I asked for others' opinion (my sis - NO, my fren DD - NO) but not my parents as they were away on pilgrimage then (I bet they will also say NO...). Anyway, my bro willing to give me soft loan to pay part of the deposit and after 3 days (and much contemplating), I said YES when the marketing staff called me.
So I went again to the showroom to discuss abt few things. Met the financier - 1 of them told me its hard for me to get the finance for this purchase as I already used up 1/3 of my salary to pay for my other loan obligations (the other apartment's loan & study loan etc). Luckily the developer agreed to refund my deposit if I wasn't able to get bank-loan for the purchase and also agreed to extend the time for payment of the 10% deposit further ( I used an excuse that my parents were away on pilgrimage, so can't asked for financial assistance from them )
Thanks God, my loan application was approved without much hassle (I was told that the bank looked at my earning potential in the future as I was kinda "young" then and has potential to earn more. The fact that I work with a PLC also help I guess
So I guess its just my luck to own that unit. Hopefully I won't run out of luck now as the unit has been completed and the big payment for the monthly installments start from this month onward ...
Anybody wanna rent my unit or maybe be my housemate
Later, met Mark of ABC at his office to discuss further on my possible venture there ...
