Mission : Bubur Lambuk Kg Baru
|
|
I hve a mission today - to get hold of Bubur Lambuk Kg Baru (Kg Baru Mix Porridge) and bring it back to my hometown for breaking of fast.It all started when I told my mom that I'll be back for the weekend, then she made a request - she really wanna taste the famous Bubur Lambuk Kampung Baru and asked me to to get hold of it. The mix porridge is specially made during the month of Ramadhan and would be distributed free for breaking of fast. The catch is - people from all over the place would come to the Kg Baru mosque to get a taste of its fame bubur lambuk...
So off I went to the Kg Baru mosque around 4pm. After queing for a while, I realised that the bubur lambuk would only be distributed after the Asar prayer @ 4.30. As I need to catch my bus at 5, quietly I sneaked into the mosque kitchen and asked the cook if I could buy the porridge instead of queing to get it FOC. My request was turn down (money can't buy everything...) but after I explained the situation - its for my mom who really wanna taste it, and I hve to catch my 5pm bus - the cook finalu obliged and gave me a pack of that fame bubur lambuk...
Mission accomplished, so I dashed off to the bus terminal feeling reliefed that I've got hold of the fame Bubur Lambuk Kg Baru
p/s The King & Queen would come to Masjid Jamek Kg Baru KL on 5/11/2004 for breaking of fast with the peoples, all are welcome.

I wasn't feeling well today... been sick ever since yesterday afternoon at work
Dr Zari gave me a rest day today, but as I'm not working today I decided to run few errants (pay bills etc) instead of just resting at home... Anyway had my afternoon nap and woke up refreshed afterward though not yet 100% recovered.
Later in the evenin, went to Masjid LUTH (Lembaga Urusan Tabung Haji - Pilgrims Management Board) or better known as Masjid Tabung Haji for iftar. This uniquely designed mosque is in the vicinity of the LUTH building - the only office tower in KL that was designed based from the hour glass concept.

Launching of Bazaar Ramadhan KL
|
|
The official launching of Bazaar Ramadhan KL was held this evening in Jalan Masjid India, KL. The event was sponsored by Mydin Department Store and supported by Tourism Malaysia. A huge tent was erected in front of the department store and free meal for breaking of fast was provided for approximately 20,000 invited and walk-in guests - locals & foreigners, muslims & non-muslims.
As in the old days practice, a "beduk" (traditional drum/gong used in mosques which would be beaten at the start of prayer time and then followed by the "adzhan" for call of prayers) was hit by a VIP at the start of the Maghrib (dawn) prayer time as well as the time for breaking of fast. Later, the guests were entertained by a nasyid group singing qasidah and ghazal songs.

Bazaar Ramadhan
|
|
As its name suggest, the Bazaar Ramadhan is specially held during the month of Ramadhan for Muslims and non-Muslims alike to shop mostly for food and drinks for breaking of fast. Here, some of those hard to find local delicacies could be found. Being hungry and thirsty, sometimes it hard to resist on the offering here in the Bazzar Ramadhan

Received my first ever hari raya greatings card for the year today
Actually I'm always looking forward to receive greating cards via post from friend and associates during festive seasons. No doubt that there's plenty of e-greatings nowadays (with cool features etc) but personally I still prefer the old snail mail way - its more personalised I guess.
With the double celebrations next months (Muslim's Hari Raya Aidilfitri / Eid and Hindu's Deepavali/Diwali), most of the department stores and book shops has started selling greatings cards for both festival as early as late September. There are various design of the cards to chose from, definitely make you spoilt for choice.
BTW, the first raya card that I received today is from my ex-boss. Hmm.. guess I need to hit the mall for some Diwali greating cards as well

Jom ke Masjid : Masjid As Syakirin
|
|
Its highly encourage to go to the mosque as frequent as possible during Ramadahn - for the 5 times a day payer, for breaking of fast, for nite prayers or even just to take a break and spend time reading the Quran. Even there's a campaign of "Jom ke Masjid" (lets go to the mosque) organised by the mosque community encouraging people to go to the mosque during this holy month.
So here I am today at As-Syakirin mosque en route for some (window) shopping in KLCC. It is one of the mosque that I like to go (maybe vecaus its location in Petronas Towers' vicinity) though I had a not so good experice here - fell down and injured my wrist in one of the earlier Ramadhan... but then again I told myself it's just a simple test for me

Holy Quran

During Ramadhan, reading the holy Quran is a good way to attaining spiritual gains. It is also a good way to restrain oneself from doing something bad or of no benefit such as gossiping.

Buka puasa with family.
|
|
Back to my hometown today to spend the weekend with my family - something that I'll normally do during Ramadhan.
One of the best part about Ramadhan that I like is family gathering for buka puasa (breaking of fast) - probably because of the various food available. Apart from mom's cooking, there'll be some other food given to us by neighbours and relative - we'll normally have this "food exchange" for buka puasa. On top of that, there'll be something else that we bought from the neighbourhood bazaar Ramadhan.

Iftar

It's Awal Ramadhan today - the first day of the fasting month. In the spirit of Ramadhan, I'll try not to eat lavishly during this holy month as Ramadhan supposed to remind us of the suffering of those less fortunate (or is it because of my expanding waist line ? )
Ramadhan or not, its business as usual as had a hectic day in the office. On top of that, I have to leave the office kinda late as I need to standby for submission of report to the authority if need arises after the market close today...
Reached home just on time for breaking of fast (iftar) at 7pm.
Selamat Berpuasa Ramadhan.

Had a good meeting at GudangDuit today despite the unpleasant incident yesterday - probably due to the fact that I was so flattered with the welcoming note at its entrance
Back home, had to do some hosue cleaning as the renovation work is almost over - washed the floor, kitchen etc... Kinda tiring though after a long day at work.
